Chris Armstrong- Roving Reporter

Chris Armstrong has three years experience presenting a prime-time tv show on Auckland's independant music station, Alt TV. He presented a variety of shows including Live At Five, the first show to be broadcast entirely from the sidewalk of Auckland's Karanahape road. Though the shows he presented might have moved around a bit the show's themes were always the same: in-depth interviews interspersed with rocking music videos. With a strong current-event and public-action theme his interviews ranged from politicians, activists, bands and actors to people on the street

Before and during his stint in television, Chris worked in student media at Otago Universities 91Radio One and Aucklands 95 B FM as well as writing for both universities magazines.

Chris recently added to his BA from Otago University completing a National Diploma in Multi-media Journalism from Whitireia Polytechnic in Wellington, where he specialized in television and radio.

Chris now looks forward to tackling a project focussed on helping people and the environment.

Chris loves working with the media, especially its power to communicate complex ideas simply and empower people with knowledge.  He sees media as a way for people to shape the world they live in.

Chris is really excited to be involved in this project. So excited he agreed to discuss himself in the third person. He says: "While I'm no tree hugging hippy, it's not difficult to see that the world we live in is far from perfect or healthy. Climate change is a big issue, probably the most pressing issue that humanity faces. It is easy to get intimidated by the scope and scale of the problem, but if individual people take responsability for their own actions and make small changes in their own lives, cumulatively we can all make a huge change.

We hope this project will make some head way on this issue, by showing people how easy and fun it can be to make a change like this, that will benefit themselves in terms of money saved, and their community with the benefits to the environment; plus they can have fun at the same time!"
